Bella’s Buds

FullSizeRender-5

Had tons of fun the other day creating delicious desserts with my niece Annabella. They came out so pretty that we decided to call the result, ” Bella’s Buds,” due to the fact that they look like flowers.  As yummy as these desserts were, the true treat is spending the quality time with the children in our lives. Have fun and enjoy !

Recipe :

4 red delicious apples

One lemon

One package of puff pastry dough

One half of cup of apricot jam

Cinnamon

cupcake pan

Slice very thin and core 4 apples . Put them into a bowl with the juice of one  lemon and no seeds. Heat them in the microwave for 2-3 minutes. Strain the water and let them cool down for a few minutes.   In another small bowl mix 3-4 tablespoons of apricot jam and 2 tablespoons of water. Microwave that mixture for  about one minute.

Thaw out the puff pastry. Lay out the sheet, flatten it out with a rolling pin, then slice the sheet into 4 slices. Proceed by spreading the apricot jam onto a slice of the pastry. Then add the apple slices, one by one, and sprinkle with cinnamon ( optional ) Depending on how you lay the apples will determine the shape of the flower bud.

Fold the dough in half ( optional) or leave it open, then roll it up ! Place each flower bud cake into the cup cake pan. Bake at 375 for about 40 minutes. We also made these buds with banana and strawberries. Each one turned out to look like a beautiful flower and they were equally as delicious. If you wish too, sprinkle powered sugar on the buds as a finishing touch.
