Insights for the Mind Body and Spirit
Taking care of ourselves is fundamental for living an abundant life. Why not invest in yourself and your well-being. You only have one body and it should be used wisely to carry you everywhere you wish to go and give you the energy for everything you want to do in this lifetime. A great way to start caring for yourself is to practice the art of moderation. Life is meant to be enjoyed and experienced so by all means do as much as you possibly can, just make sure you do not over indulge. Moderation is what enables us to enjoy the ride we call “Life” without experiencing the side effects associated with overindulgence. The lethargic feeling after eating too much turkey on Thanksgiving, or the hangover after drinking too much or even worse the DUI that cost 10K and a lot of time and aggravation are a few examples of these unnecessary things we would avoid if we learned to be moderate. I use this word loosely as I think life should be experienced in all its forms so I don’t discriminate against any particular behavior or state of being, Meaning that it is okay to indulge from time to time as long as it is done randomly and inconsistently and does not become habitual . Don’t beat yourself up for over consuming. If you had fun it was probably worth it. Moderation should be used in all the aspects of your life. Learning to make good decisions will help you to live in moderation. If you happen to be at a restaurant and you just finished a nice meal and now are debating whether or not to get the dessert, ask yourself, “do I really need this”? “How will I feel after I eat it”? Then find solutions. So what if I buy the dessert, but share it amongst everyone at the table. That way I still taste it, we have a fun sharing experience, and I don’t feel guilty and overstuffed. Learn to ask more questions. Is this product going to harm me? Can I find a better choice? Will this make me happy? Will this cause me stress or discomfort? The answers should be positive in nature as to evoke the spirit of Love. Take care of your mind, your body, and your spirit through the use of moderation and be kind to yourself and to others. Enjoy Life and “Go slow, you’ll see better”!
